Description: For the serious fishermen whom have considerable patients and skill, attempt the IGFA Grand Slam! Flats fishing requires spotting and stalking across the aqua blue shallows of the Gulf of Mexico off Key West. You and your captain will quietly, deliberately move across the flats in as little as 12" of water by push-pole and scan the water for the visual cues of fish. Once located, it will take positioning and precision casts to land these hard hitting trophies.

Type of Travel: Trips begin at either Miami Intl Airport (MIA) or Key West Intl Airport* (EYW). All ground transportation by SUV or van is included to hotel, restaurants, and fishing docks.

Spinning and Bait Caster Fishing: Reels by Daiwa. Light-med action 7-8' rods. 20-50 lb braided line with 30-60 lb flurocarbon leaders. Various lures for shallow saltwater fishing. Fly Fishing: Helios and Mirage equipment. Orvis 8-12 wt fly rods and reels, Orvis Hydros floating and intermediate line.
Standard personal fishing apparel such as hat, sunglasses, sunblock, camera, and cooler. Even during the winter, it is possible for temperatures to be warm, and the sun is powerful year-round. In the summer and early fall temperatures and humidity are very high.
Combo w/ these Destinations: Key West is not located in the vicinity of our other destinations and there are no hunting options there either. However, we could schedule trips with airfare included to jump from Venice, LA, the Outer Banks of North Carolina, North Texas, or Gulf Coast Texas; all of which we offer fishing and hunting to create an awesome Combo Destination Trip!
